Arsenal consider fresh Martin Zubimendi offer and Aurelien Tchouameni transfer – Paper Round

Arsenal set to return for Zubimendi

The Mirror reports that Arsenal are again keen on signing both Martin Zubimendi as well as Aurelien Tchouameni.

“Arsenal have reignited their interest in Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi with Aurelien Tchouameni of Real Madrid another player of interest to Mikel Arteta,” the paper states.

“Earlier this year, the Gunners failed with a £53million transfer bid for Zubimendi – who has been capped twice for Spain. The 24-year-old has a £53million (€60m) release clause in his contract at the Basque club and has no shortage of admirers both in La Liga and the Premier League.

“Zubimendi himself was reluctant to leave Real Sociedad, the club where he has spent the entirety of his career, last year when interest from the Gunners emerged. A key part of his motivation to stay at the Basque club was to represent them in the Champions League this season.”

Chelsea and Brentford looking at Tammy Abraham

Tammy Abraham could be in line for a return to the Premier League, potentially with former club Chelsea.

“Roma have replaced him with Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea and the Serie A side would consider making the move permanent,” explains The Sun.

“This and manager Jose Mourinho’s expected exit from the club at the end of this season could lead to Abraham wanting out of Italy.

“The striker is reportedly keen on a return to England.

“Chelsea have always kept an eye on their former player and Lukaku’s potential move to the Stadio Olimpico could facilitate a swap deal.

“They also supposedly have a £67m buy-back clause in his Roma contract.

“Meanwhile, Brentford are also keen on Abraham and hope £45m will be enough to sign him.”

Muscat may return to Millwall

Millwall could appoint former player Kevin Muscat as their manager after the Australian missed out on the Rangers job.

“After being linked strongly with a return to Rangers after Mick Beale’s sacking last month, Muscat is now a leading candidate for the Millwall job following Gary Rowett’s departure a week ago,” writes the Mail.

“Whether he takes over at the Den or not, he would be a good fit for a Championship side.

“Muscat’s CV boasts an A-League title after replacing Postecoglou at Melbourne Victory, when the now Spurs boss took over the national team, plus an Australian Cup. He had a brief stint in Belgium before joining Yokohama F Marinos in Japan when Postecoglou left for Celtic.”

Everton set to keep Okoronkwo

The Athletic believes that Everton will keep hold of their promising teenager, Francis Okoronkwo.

“Everton are close to agreeing a new long-term deal with highly-rated youngster Francis Okoronkwo,” the website reports.

“The 19-year-old striker, who is also capable of playing across the forward line, was signed from Sunderland for around £1million back in 2021.

“His current contract had been due to expire at the end of the season but Everton have moved to secure his future.

“Okoronkwo is yet to make his senior debut but he has been part of the Everton matchday squad before and was part of the group that toured Evian in pre-season.”
