Arsenal consider January deadline move for Chelsea’s Jorginho move if Enzo Fernandez signs – reports

Arsenal are one of several clubs who hope to sign Chelsea midfielder Jorginho before the end of the January transfer window, according to reports.

Arsenal sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League at the midway point in the season but are without midfielders Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny due to injury.

WIth a day left for clubs to make additions, Jorginho has emerged as a target not just for the summer, when his contract at Stamford Bridge is up, but for the rest of this season.

Jorginho joined Chelsea from Napoli in 2018 and has been a regular starter this season.

However, Chelsea could be tempted to sell the 31-year-old Italy international after spending heavily in the second transfer window under American owner Todd Boehly.

Chelsea have also signed Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk, Benoit Badiashile from Monaco, David Datro Fofana from Norwegian side Molde, Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama, Lyon right-back Malo Gusto – to arrive in the summer – and Noni Madueke from PSV on permanent deals.

The club have also brought in Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid.

Jorginho is just one of several players out of contract at the end of the season at Chelsea, with fellow veteran midfielder N’Golo Kante looking likely to leave after struggling with injury this season.

Another Chelsea midfielder, Conor Gallagher, is rumoured to be a target for Everton after Sean Dyche was appointed as Frank Lampard’s replacement, with a fee of £45m mentioned.
