Baby rescued from dumpster by garbage man in shocking video

Dramatic footage appears to capture the moment a garbage man rescued an abandoned baby boy from a dumpster in Iran.

The harrowing clip is going viral as citizens praise the sanitation samaritan for his good deed, which occurred Monday evening in the Nazi Abad neighborhood of Tehran, the nation’s capital, Newsflash reported.

The unnamed waste worker had reportedly noticed muffled breathing noises coming from a plastic bag inside a dumpster, whereupon he looked inside and saw the discarded tot.

In the astonishing clip, the heroic dumpster diver can be seen lifting a sack with unseen contents inside out of the receptacle and placing it on the pavement in front of a crowd.

Things take a turn after he unwraps the bundle to unveil a crying, blood-soaked newborn — with its umbilical cord still attached — causing bystanders to cry out in shock. The quick-thinking man subsequently peels away all the plastic to ensure that the boy can breathe.

According to Newsflash, the man then dialed emergency services, who arrived and cleaned off the tot, before transporting him to a nearby nearby Amir al Momenin Hospital.

The tough little guy is now in stable condition, Iran Front Page News reported Tuesday.

Authorities have launched an investigation to help identify the perpetrators of the heinous act, according to local outlets.

Child abandonment has reportedly reached a “horrifying” crisis level in Iran: A former director of welfare issues in Iran’s Ministry of Interior claimed that around 1,000 children under 3 are abandoned there each year — but some activists allege that figure is too low, as leaders often downplay problems to make the country look more secure.

“The dark reality is that these babies’ parents, living in poverty, are so desperate that they are left with no option other than abandoning their newborns,” a spokesperson for the Iranian Resistance movement announced in 2018. However, the organization said many of of those parents are “hoping a children welfare society takes them in or they are adopted by families able to provide care for them.”

The baby was subsequently transported to the hospital, where it is reportedly in stable condition.

Meanwhile, other similar incidents haven’t resulted in such happy endings.

A Washington, DC, woman admitted in March to tossing her dead baby’s body in a dumpster the year before. LaDonia Boggs, 39, told officials she had rolled on top of the infant while under the influence of angel dust and threw out his body in a panic, according to NBC outlet WRC-TV.

In January, New Mexico instituted a new “baby box” — a community effort to insure infants can be safely surrendered — after an 18-year-old mom was accused of abandoning her baby in a dumpster after being caught on video.
