‘Bachelorette’ alum Josh Seiter checks into mental health facility
Former reality TV star Josh Seiter, 36, reportedly checked himself into a mental health facility Monday after his Instagram was hacked in late August, claiming he died.
According to his social media account, the mental health advocate will be “logging off” after enduring several weeks of “unending harassment.”
“For the last month, I’ve received hundreds of hateful messages and unending harassment related to my account being hacked,” Seiter, 36, wrote. “I wish I was stronger but I can’t take any more and am logging off of social media for good and am checking myself into a wellness facility now to try to get some kind of handle on my mental health.”
“I am losing my phone in the next hour. I love you all. To the people sending me death threats, you win,” continued Seiter.
The Post reached out to Seiter’s reps for comment.
News that the “Bachelorette” star had allegedly passed away broke late last month after a hacking attempt on Seiter’s Instagram mere days after the reality star talked openly about his struggles with depression and anxiety.
“It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share the tragic news of Joshua’s unexpected passing. As all who knew him can attest, Joshua was an incredibly bright light in an increasingly dim world,” according to a statement credited to Seiter’s family and posted to his Instagram page.
“His fearless voice and indomitable spirit helped thousands of people in their darkest moments feel just a little less alone. Although our heartache at Joshua’s passing pains us beyond measure, we find comfort in knowing that he is finally at peace,” the message continued.
While no cause of death was listed at the time, the statement — which many assumed to be from his family — did include the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
Less than 24 hours later, the real Seiter deleted the false claim and revealed that he was indeed alive.
“Hey guys, as you can see, I am alive and well. My account was hacked,” said Seiter in a video the following day. “For the last 24 hours, I’ve been trying desperately to get into it. Somebody was playing a cruel joke and mocking my mental illness, and the struggles I’ve gone through with depression.”
According to Seiter, he and his team were attempting to figure out who was behind the hacking.
Since the hacking, the exotic dancer and OnlyFans creator has come under attack from fellow reality star Monica Beverly Hillz, who claims Seiter faked his own death.
“I’m baffled, I’m angry,” the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star, 38, told Entertainment Weekly following the hacking attempt. “I’m happy he’s alive, I’m happy he’s here, but this is so infuriating to me.”
Hillz, who had known Seiter since 2013 before entering a relationship with the star, claimed that several of her friends told her that Seiter was a “clout chaser.”
“It wasn’t until I posted the first picture that everybody was blowing me up like, ‘Girl, run,’ and, ‘He’s a clout chaser,’ and we’d laugh about it, like, ‘People are calling you a clout chaser,’ so when I’d hear comments, I would ask him,” she said.
Hillz then claimed that Seiter told her, “He’d tell me that he would plant … stories on his own.”
The pair spilt mere days before Seiter’s “death.”
Seiter later slammed Hillz, claiming he “barely knew her.”
“Me and Monica hung out a grand total of three times over a week and a half. I barely know her. I’ve had more physical contact with my dad in the last year, to be honest, and he’s dead,” Seiter told The Post. “She’s not my ex, and she’s clearly desperate for attention. She’s trying to milk her flimsy connection to me for all it’s worth, and it’s laughable. Everything she’s saying is without one shred of evidence, and it’s given me a good chuckle.”
