Barcelona post profit of £86m, expect it to hit £240m next year after major financial turnaround
Barcelona have confirmed that they made a profit of £86 million for the 2021-22 financial year and expect that figure to increase to around £240m for the 2022-23 period.
Barca’s finances have been the subject of much discussion, marked by the failure to keep all-time top scorer Lionel Messi and losing the superstar on a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
But under new president Joan Laporta the club have looked to balance the books, partly by offloading high earners and partly by selling various assets such as 10% of the domestic television rights to Sixth Street, another 15% of the La Liga TV rights to the same firm as well as selling chunks of Barca Studios, the in-house production company.

Those moves led to a massive summer of spending in terms of wages and transfer fees as Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, Marcos Alonso, Franck Kessie and Hector Bellerin all arrived as the team overhauled the squad available to manager Xavi Hernandez.
Barca currently sit second in La Liga, with five wins in a row after a disappointing opening day 0-0 draw against Rayo Vallecano.
They are two points behind arch-rivals and defending champions Real Madrid, who are a perfect six of six thus far.
Barca do have the best defensive record in the league having only let in one goal, while they are also the top scorers in the league with 18 goals.
