Barry Keoghan’s ‘Saltburn’ nude dance took 11 ‘fun’ takes
Warning: Spoilers below.
Barry bared it all.
Irish actor Barry Keoghan, 31, did not use a body double while going nude in the new movie “Saltburn,” (now streaming on Prime Video).
Rather, the nudity was all him.
“It totally felt right,” he told EW. “It was fun.”
The shocking psychological thriller / black comedy movie is a “The Talented Mr. Ripley” for the millennial and Gen-Z set.
The plot follows Oxford scholarship student Oliver Quick (Keoghan), who struggles to fit in with his moneyed classmates, and soon becomes obsessed with his wealthy friend Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi).
When Felix invites Oliver to spend the summer at his family’s estate, Saltburn, events soon spiral into death and debauchery.
The movie has several outrageous scenes that have captured the public’s attention, such as a scene where Oliver drinks bathwater that Felix has ejaculated in, and a scene where Oliver dances naked.
Many viewers have taken to Tiktok to post their reactions to the movie.
“I wasn’t ready,” one fan announced. “I should have known when the tagline says ‘We’re about to lose our minds.’ That’s exactly what the f–k we did.”
Another TikTok commenter said, “I watched this and for the first like 20 minutes i was like yass i need a saltburn summer then the rest of the movie i felt sick to my stomach.”
Another video posted people reacting with shrieks and cringes as they watched the infamous bath water scene.
One commenter said, “Legit was going to see it with my dad today but TikTok saved me,” while another fan replied, “DO NOT GO WITH YOUR DAD.”
“The initial thing was about me having no clothes on. I’m a bit, ehhh,” Keoghan told the outlet about his nude scene.
“But after take one, I was ready to go. I was like, ‘Let’s go again. Let’s go again.’ You kind of forget, because there’s such a comfortable environment created, and it gives you that license to go, ‘All right, this is about the story now.’”
Director Emerald Fennell said they did 11 takes to nail the nude dance.
Spoiler alert – Oliver eventually kills off Felix and his family in an attempt to get their fortune and Saltburn, and he celebrates his new status as lord of the manor with a naked dance.
Keoghan, who is also known for his Oscar nominated role in “The Banshees of Inisherin,” told EW, “It’s ownership. This is my place. It’s full confidence in, ‘I can do what I want in this manor. I can strip to my barest and waltz around because this is mine.’ I didn’t know I could dance like that, by the way. I was like, ‘Wow. Where did them things come from?’ Do ya know what I mean?”
