Bayern Munich ready second Harry Kane transfer bid, Jordan Henderson wanted by Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq – Paper Round

Bayern bid again for Kane

Bayern Munich will make a second bid for Harry Kane this week and hope an offer of £80m plus add-ons is enough to sway Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, the Daily Mail reports. Kane has a year left on his current contract and Spurs risk losing him for free in 2024, but they were unmoved by Bayern’s initial offer of £60m plus add-ons. An increased bid could tempt Spurs to sell, however, with the club eager to avoid the prospect of Kane joining a Premier League rival – a stance that has seen Manchester United seemingly end their interest in the England captain.

The Mail adds: “Such a move for Kane, at 29, has not met approval from Bayern’s president Uli Hoeness who believes the England striker is too expensive.

“Bayern will assess the cost of bringing in Kane then set about selling players such as former Manchester United loanee Marcel Sabitzer before bringing in further additions.”

Al-Ettifaq target Henderson and Aubameyang

After Steven Gerrard was named the new manager of Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq, the club are looking at the possibility of signing Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and Chelsea forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Daily Mail reports. Henderson has two years remaining on his Liverpool contract and could be difficult to tempt away from Anfield, but Aubameyang is a more realistic prospect as Gerrard looks to make an immediate impact.

The Mail adds: “There has been speculation that Philippe Coutinho, another of Gerrard’s former Liverpool teammates who also played under the 43-year-old at Aston Villa, could link up with him again at Al-Ettifaq along with ex-Liverpool forward Sadio Mane.

“However, it’s understood that Coutinho and Mane, now at Bayern Munich, are unlikely to move to Saudi this summer.”

Pulisic against Lyon move

Christian Pulisic favours a move to AC Milan and has informed Chelsea that he will not join Lyon irrespective of their offer, the Daily Mail reports. Milan are believed to have made a written offer of £12m plus bonuses for the 24-year-old, and that is said to be comparable to Lyon’s proposed £21m bid, which includes bonuses and a sell-on. Pulisic, though, only has eyes for the Serie A club.

The Mail adds: “Pulisic, who cost Chelsea £58m from Borussia Dortmund, is one of 11 players who could leave in the coming days.

“Mason Mount was at Manchester United on Monday ahead of his £55m move then Chelsea will work on the departures of Pulisic, Cesar Azpilicueta, Romelu Lukaku, Ethan Ampadu, Trevoh Chalobah, Baba Rahman, Malang Sarr, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Hakim Ziyech.”

PSG aim to win Veiga race

Paris Saint-Germain are hoping to beat Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City to the signature of Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga, the Guardian reports. Chelsea want Veiga as a replacement for Manchester United-bound Mason Mount, and the 21-year-old’s contract contains a €40m (£34.4m) release clause.

The Guardian adds: “Liverpool and City have looked at Veiga, who plays predominantly as a No 6 or a No 8, while there is interest from Barcelona. However PSG are are looking to strengthen in midfield and are intensifying their efforts to sign Veiga, who scored 11 goals and made four assists in 36 La Liga games last season.

“The French champions are yet to trigger the 21-year-old’s release clause and other clubs could still come into the picture. Chelsea need additions in midfield after losing Mount, N’Golo Kanté and Mateo Kovacic. Veiga is prominent on their shortlist and sources expect them to move for the Spaniard this month.”
