Bebe Rexha rushed to hospital after concert hit, phone thrower identified
The man who allegedly left Bebe Rexha bloodied and in need of stitches Sunday at an NYC concert is now in police custody.
The 33-year-old “I’m Good (Blue)” singer was struck in the face with a cellphone and rushed off the stage at the Rooftop at Pier 17, multiple eyewitness told The Post.
Rexha was rushed to the hospital where she was treated for her injuries, which required three stitches, according to TMZ.
The phone-pelter suspect was quickly identified, with cops arresting Nicolas Malvagna for assault. NYPD officers charged the 27-year-old Manalapan, New Jersey, man with a felony for using his cell as a weapon. He remains in police custody and is set to be arraigned later Monday, ABC7NY reported.
“Bebe was amazing — but at the end of the show as she was leaving the stage, somebody threw what was apparently a phone and hit her right in the face,” fan Brian Good, 48, of Kearny, New Jersey, told The Post Monday morning.
“She staggered around, fell down, and her people pulled her off the stage. Scary. Police were coming into the building as we left, and we think maybe an ambulance came, too.”
Rexha was hit just below her left eye and crew members had to rush to her aid, according to multiple eyewitness reports.
Videos shared across social media showed the Grammy-nominated songstress clutching her cheek as concertgoers chanted her name.
Meanwhile, the star posted a photo of her injury to Instagram early Monday, declaring: “Im good.”
The Staten Island native’s fans immediately rushed to Twitter to express their support for her, with many condemning the bizarre attack.
“Wow, this is so vile, nasty, and disturbing. Bebe Rexha doesn’t deserve this at all. I hope she is ok, and I hope the person who threw the phone gets charged with assault,” one follower tweeted.
“This is Bebe Rexha being rushed out of the concert venue here in NYC after someone threw a f – – king phone and hit her face as she was leaving the stage,” another fan wrote. “We were all having a hell of a good time and so was Bebe, we were all having a blast, I mean who would even do that??? We hope you’re ok @BebeRexha.”
Another concerned fan chimed in: “Absolutely great show ruined by a fan throwing their phone at @BebeRexha hopefully she is ok after that.”
Rexha’s Big Apple concert was part of her Best F’n Night of My Life tour which is slated to include four more dates.
Other venues for the tour include gigs at the Fillmore in Philadelphia, the Fillmore Silver Spring in Maryland, the Tabernacle in Atlanta and the Hard Rock Live Orlando in Florida.
