‘Beyoncé canceled Lizzo:’ Fans call out diss amid dancers’ suit
Beyoncé shocked fans Tuesday after she refused to say Lizzo’s name during a remix of her song “Break my soul” after the rapper was accused of sexual harassment and hostile work conditions.
The song, which stands as a tribute to black women in the entertainment industry, calls out icons such as Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill and Nicki Minaj and normally featured the “About Damn Time” singer.
Several videos posted to X (formerly Twitter) show the “Single Ladies” singer, 41, replacing Lizzo’s name with Erykah Badu even though her name flashed on the screen behind Knowles-Carter.
The Post reached out to Queen Bey’s reps for comment.
Several fans also praised the former Destiny’s Child performer for her level of pettiness.
“I love Beyoncé’s level of petty,” giggled one fan. “Leave Lizzo’s name on the screen but don’t say it and gave Erykah the attention she wanted.”
“Beyoncé canceled Lizzo,” joked a second fan.
“Shading Taylor for Beyoncé only for Beyoncé to stop acknowledging her after this lmao,” cackled a third person. “Lizzo got what she deserved.”
One fan sided with Lizzo claiming that she wasn’t the only person to be left out of the tribute.
“Everyone needs to calm down. Beyoncé isn’t shading Lizzo, as she skipped over other names,” claimed the fan. “Also, the accusations against Lizzo are just that…accusations. Innocent until proven true.”
In June, Lizzo, 35, posted a video on Instagram of herself at the Renaissance tour reacting to her name appearing on the screen.
“In that moment I was thinking about baby me, listening to Happy Face by Destiny’s Child and crying myself to sleep because of bullies,” wrote the singer. “I thought about Beyoncé jumping into the room where Tina Turner was waiting to meet her for the first time.”
“I think of what we all mean to people and how cyclical it is. We are all so infinitesimally and maximally connected and significant. It’s an honor. Thank You @beyonce,” concluded the post.
On Tuesday, three of Lizzo’s former dancers announced that they were suing the singer after she reportedly weight-shamed them and allegedly forced them to participate in a sex show while in Amsterdam.
Plaintiffs Arianna Davis and Crystal Williams also claim the “Good as Hell” singer fired them. Noelle Rodriguez, the third person in the case, said she reportedly had to resign.
All three dancers allege that in February 2023, the Grammy Award-winner invited her team for a night out that went south.
“… Things quickly got out of hand. Lizzo began inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers, catching dildos launched from the performers’ vaginas, and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas,” claims the lawsuit.
David claimed that Lizzo “pressured” and “goaded” her into touching a performer’s breast.
The dancers also claim the singer tricked them a month later into attending a nude performance “robbing them of the choice not to participate.”
All three women are suing for general and special damages, as well as punitive damages and attorneys’ fees.
“The stunning nature of how Lizzo and her management team treated their performers seems to go against everything Lizzo stands for publicly, while privately she weight-shames her dancers and demeans them in ways that are … absolutely demoralizing,” Ron Zambrano, who is representing the dancers, said in a statement.
