Biden jokes that he was 40 when he met a 17-year-old Eva Longoria

President Biden drew a smattering of laughs at the White House on Thursday after he awkwardly joked about how old he was when he first met a then-underage Eva Longoria.

The 48-year-old Hollywood actress joined the 80-year-old president on the South Lawn Thursday night for a film screening of “Flamin’ Hot” – Longoria’s directorial debut.

“We’ve known each other a long time,” Biden told a crowd outside the executive mansion.

“She was 17, I was 40,” he joked, drawing some laughter.

It appears as though the president may have been trying to pass himself off as far younger than he actually was when Longoria was a teenager.

Biden would’ve been 50 when Longoria was 17, and she would have been 7 when the president was 40.

Longoria, a longtime Democratic Party ally, backed Biden in 2020 and has previously been on the campaign trail with him when he was Barack Obama’s running mate.

The age remark wasn’t Biden’s only joke of the night.

He introduced himself to the crowd with a wisecrack he frequently deploys, saying, “I’m Jill Biden’s husband.”

At one point during his remarks, an audience member shouted, “I love you,” and the commander-in-chief hollered back, “I accept!”

The White House’s decision to screen Longoria’s movie is not without controversy.

“Flamin’ Hot” tells the tale about how a Mexican American janitor – Richard Montanez – working at Frito-Lay sold his bosses on the idea to spice up the Cheetos snack brand.

But a Los Angeles Times expose’ cast doubt on the claims made by Montanez, and Frito-Lay says he “was not involved” in the creation of the spicy treat.

“When I think about tonight’s movie, I think about courage. So many of you, your ancestors left behind all that they knew to start a new life in the United States,” Biden said of the film.

A White House official defended the decision to screen the film, telling the Associated Press that the movie isn’t a documentary and was shown to give Americans from different backgrounds a chance to see themselves reflected in film and celebrated by the president.
