Bill Boggs confesses he’d love to date Martha Stewart and smoke pot with her
Former TV news anchorman Bill Boggs is single and ready to mingle — and smoke weed — with Martha Stewart.
The 82-year-old Emmy winner has known Stewart, 81, since her first book “Pies & Tarts” was released in 1992 — and has had a crush on her from the moment they met.
“I thought, ‘She’s beautiful. She’s really funny. She’s talented. She’s essentially my age,’” Boggs told The Post ahead of the release of his second novel “Spike Unleashed” last week.
And now, since they are both single and have similar interests, he’d love to date her.
“She smokes pot. I smoke pot,” he said. “We could be out there in her house in Connecticut smoking pot.”
The longtime Upper West Sider recalled first making a move on Stewart in 1997 when he interviewed her for his Food Network show “Bill Boggs’ Corner Table” at Jean-Georges restaurant.
“I said, ‘By the way, I know you’ve been married before. Would you consider getting married again?’” he explained of the flirty exchange, which can be found on YouTube.
Stewart replied that it would have to be a “really special person.”
“And so I said, ‘Would it have to be a mogul like you?’” Boggs remembered.
“And she said, ‘No, it could be somebody as simple as the gardener.’ And I said, ‘Oh, could it be like a guy with a really good show on cable television?’ And she gives me this side-eye look and says, ‘Bill, are you proposing to me at lunch?’ I said, ‘Well I don’t do gardening.’”
Boggs, who has been married four times, until now has never really pursued Stewart, who’s worth $400 million.
“I think I was probably a tiny bit intimidated by her massive success,” he admitted. “Every time I saw her, I could feel it, this little tingle that you get sometimes if you’re a guy. But I never acted on it.”
Stewart made headlines in 2020 for her pool selfie, which Boggs called “a bit of a turn-on to a certain age of fellow.”
Stewart’s rep told The Post, “We will let you know if there is a comment here.”
