Billy Ray Cyrus has ‘tried reaching out’ to Miley amid feud: report

Billy Ray Cyrus can’t stop trying to contact his daughter.

The country musician has reportedly been attempting to make amends with his daughter Miley Cyrus after the “Wrecking Ball” singer appeared to snub him during her acceptance speech at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

“He’s tried reaching out to Miley many times and congratulated her on her Grammys,” a source close to Cyrus, 62, told Us Weekly on Wednesday. “The kids have chosen sides, but friends are hoping the rift doesn’t last forever.”

Feud speculation surfaced when Tish Cyrus, who divorced the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer in April 2022 after being together for nearly 30 years, tied the knot with “Prison Break” actor Dominic Purcell. Only Miley, 31, and her older siblings, Trace and Brandi Cyrus, attended the ceremony at the time.

“The divorce between her parents has put a strain on her relationship with her dad and it’s been hard to connect with him in the last year,” a source told E! News in October 2022.

The “Old Town Road” singer, for his part, went on to marry Johanna “Firerose” Hodges in October 2023.

“Miley and Billy Ray are on the outs,” the source told Us. “Miley’s very close with her mom and is standing by her.”

Miley’s other sibling, Noah Cyrus, 24, meanwhile, has “always been close with Billy Ray” and that has caused issues “between her and Miley.”

“The family dynamics haven’t been the same since the divorce, and now that Tish and Billy Ray are with other people, there’s even more division among them all,” a second insider explained, adding that Noah and Braison Cyrus, 29, were invited to the wedding but opted not to go.

“It’s no secret neither of them approves of Dominic, and that’s created tension with their mom.”

The Post has reached out to reps for Billy Ray and Miley for comment.

In October 2023, Noah hinted at the divide when she called out Miley’s “disrespect” on a TikTok video of Miley talking about Noah living in her shadow during a 2020 interview on “The Joe Rogan Experience.” 

“She’s got a record out that I love called ‘The End of Everything’ … and it’s the most depressing EP you’ll ever listen to,” Miley told the host.

“She’s 20 years old. She’s emo. She’s, like, an emo kid.”

When asked by Rogan if Noah turned out “emo” because she grew up “on the road” with “Hannah Montana,” Cyrus agreed.

“That’s what it is,” Miley responded.

None of the Cyrus clan have yet to openly acknowledge an apparent feud. After Miley failed to acknowledge her famous dad for winning Record of the Year for her hit “Flowers” at the Grammys, she went on to post a more in-depth speech via Instagram — and still left his name out.

“My mommy, my sister, my love, my main gays, because look how good I look,” she said onstage during the star-studded ceremony at Crypto.com Arena in LA on Feb. 4. “I don’t think I forgot anyone — but I might have forgotten underwear. Bye!”
