BMW IBSF Bobsleigh World Cup: Johannes Lochner and Georg Fleischhauer fire on dream day for Germany

Johannes Lochner and Georg Fleischhauer did just enough to take two-man bobsleigh World Cup gold in Innsbruck to lead home a German one-two-three.

Leading by 0.14 seconds after the first run, following a track record, Lochner and Fleischhauer then produced the second fastest run second time around, but just held off Francesco Friedrich and Alexander Schueller by 0.08 seconds for the win.

Adam and Isam Ammour completed the all-German podium, 0.66 seconds back ahead of American pair Frank de Duca and Joshua Williamson.

Lochner extends his lead at the top of the world standings in the 2-man bobsleigh, with this second victory in three races.

It completed a brilliant day for the Germans, with Lisa Buckwitz taking the win in the women’s monobob, her second in as many days.

Buckwitz produced the fastest time of the first run and then withstood the charge of overall World Cup leader Kaysha Love, of the USA by 0.11 seconds.

Australia’s Bree Walker was just 0.02 seconds behind in third spot.

Buckwitz is now up to second in the World Cup standings, nine points behind Love.
