Bora-Hansgrohe say Cian Uijtdebroeks ‘will remain’ with team despite Jumbo-Visma announcement

Team Jumbo-Visma’s announcement that they have signed Cian Uijtdebroeks for next year has been denied by the Belgian’s current team, Bora-Hansgrohe.

As such, it was perhaps unsurprising when the rider’s move to Jumbo-VIsma was announced on Saturday afternoon.

The deal that was announced stated that the Dutch team had signed the 20-year-old for the 2024 season on a four-year deal up until 2027.

However on Saturday evening, Bora-Hansgrohe announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Uijtdebroeks would be racing with them until the end of next year.

“Cian is and will remain a member of Bora-Hansgrohe, also in the coming 2024 season,” the team announced. “He is contractually bound with us until 31 December 2024.”

Earlier, Jumbo-Visma sports director Merijn Zeeman had welcomed the signing.

He said: “When the opportunity arose to sign Cian as of December 1st, we didn’t hesitate. Cian is a perfect fit for our team. He wants to develop in all areas. We are happy that he has chosen us and our approach.”
