Borussia Dortmund blow chance to go level with Bayern atop Bundesliga after Stuttgart claw back stoppage-time equaliser
Borussia Dortmund missed the chance to go joint top of the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich after conceding a last-minute equaliser to draw 3-3 with 10-man Stuttgart.
Dortmund took the lead in the 26th minute when Sebastien Haller turned in Donyell Malen’s cutback before Malen scored himself for the fourth straight league game.

Stuttgart were then reduced to 10 men after the dismissal of defender Konstantinos Mavropanos following a second booking just before half-time.
Tanguy Coulibaly pulled a goal back for Stuttgart in the 78th minute, and Josha Vagnoman levelled six minutes later with a shot from inside the box.
Dortmund seemed to have rescued the points when Gio Reyna scored in stoppage time, but Silas Katompa Mvumpa popped up to earn the hosts an improbable point.
Despite playing for nearly an hour with an extra man, Dortmund managed only 56% possession and conceded almost as many shots as they took (15-12).
Stuttgart forward Chris Fuhrich continued his impressive season with five completed dribbles, relieving pressure on his tired team-mates in key moments.
Stuttgart are playing for their Bundesliga lives, and this result – the nature of it as much as the point itself – could go a long way to helping them stay up after a season to forget.
One crumb of comfort for Dortmund will be the fact that Stuttgart’s point lifts them above Schalke, who drop into 17th. Dortmund’s eternal rivals now sit ahead of only Hertha Berlin, in the second automatic relegation place.
Former Dortmund midfielder Sebastian Kehl was fuming at full time.
He said: “I’m just p****d off and feel frustration. We missed a great chance. We conceded four goals, and if you include the offside goal… you have to manage that against 10 men.”
Bayern took the lead against Hoffenheim in the 17th minute when Benjamin Pavard scored from close range. However, Hoffenheim equalised in the 71st minute through an Andrej Kramaric free-kick, and a Pavard goal was disallowed for offside just two minutes later.
With six games remaining, Dortmund remain comfortably ahead of third-placed Leipzig, but will rue their failure to close out a win against the 10 men of Stuttgart.
