Brentford striker Ivan Toney could make £60 million Arsenal switch in January – Paper Round
Toney ‘interested’ in Arsenal move
Brentford forward Ivan Toney could be on his way to Arsenal as soon as this winter for a fee reported to be £60 million.
“Toney was hit with the ban back in May after being found guilty of 232 breaches, having been instrumental to Brentford’s success in the Premier League. In 66 top-flight appearances for the Bees, Toney has scored 32 goals and unsurprisingly been linked with big moves elsewhere.
“Mirror Football understands that Arsenal are interested in signing Toney in January, with manager Mikel Arteta keen to bolster the Gunners’ Premier League title bid. Chelsea and Tottenham are also interested in the England international, while Manchester United could also enter the race.
“Brentford are set to demand around £60m for Toney and the player is said to be interested in a move to the Emirates.”
United keen on two Brazilian youngsters
“Manchester United are targeting two teenage Brazilian wonderkids but face fierce competition, reports say,” the paper writes.
“United are believed to have sent scouts to South America where a pair of Samba starlets caught their eye.
“Palmeiras midfielder Luis Guilherme and Flamengo’s Lorran are those to have stood out to the Old Trafford club.
“Guilherme is a Brazilian Under-20s international and has become a regular in Palmeiras’ first team with 24 senior appearances this season.
“But Lorran – a starter for Brazil’s U-17 side – has just four games to his name for Flamengo.
“United could face spending nearly £100MILLION if they want to nab the teen pair.”
Mourinho considers Saudi switch
Jose Mourinho could find himself tempted to move to Saudi Arabia, as he comes under pressure at Roma this season.
“Mourinho has spent two years with the Serie A giants and managed to lead them to an inaugural Europa League Conference title before reaching the Europa League final last year.
“Despite his success in Europe, ‘the Special One’ is under growing pressure in Rome given the side’s early season form which has seen them fall to 10th in the table.
“Amid the growing rumours, Mourinho recently came out and admitted that it’s likely he’ll one day work in Saudi Arabia.”
Van de Beek linked with Ajax return
Ajax are keen on signing Donny van de Beek as he struggles at Manchester United, according to the Express.
“Now into his fourth season as a United player, Van de Beek has made only 35 Premier League appearances, scoring two goals. The midfielder’s measly return pales in comparison to the numbers he put up at Ajax, where he hit double figures across all competitions in three consecutive campaigns before his £35million switch to England.
“Even the appointment of Erik ten Hag – with whom he worked at Ajax – has failed to kick-start Van de Beek’s stint with the Red Devils. And with only two substitute appearances to his name this term, the out-of-favour star may consider his options in January.”
