Brian Cox thought his reality show was a James Bond movie

Logan Roy made a mistake.

Brian Cox, best known for playing the hard-nosed patriarch of the Roy dynasty on HBO’s “Succession,” admitted that he agreed to do the upcoming reality competition series “007: Road to a Million” because  “I thought it was the new James Bond film,” he told Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday’s episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

“So I said, ‘Oh, finally they’re getting me in a James Bond movie,” he went on.

 “I thought, ‘Yes, of course!’

But, he was disappointed to learn that, “There was no script and there was no James Bond movie.”

The competition series “007: Road to a Million,” (premiering Nov. 10 on Prime Video), follows nine pairs of ordinary people who go on a global adventure through several Bond-inspired challenges, in hopes of winning a cash prize of a million dollars.

It’s hosted and narrated by Cox, 77, who introduces the challenges set in various locations from “Bond” films, such as the Scottish Highlands and the canals of Venice, Italy.

“It was fun,” Cox said about the show. “You know, I love bossing people around, so that’s what I did.”

The release date of the actual next Bond film has not been announced yet, and neither has the identity of the actor who will replace Daniel Craig. However, there have been rumors that it could be Idris Elba, 51, Tom Hardy, 46, Richard Madden, 37, or “Bridgerton” star Regé-Jean Page, 35.

Brian Cox admitted to Jimmy Fallon that he signed onto “007: Road to a Million” because he thought he would “finally” get to act in a James Bond film.

So, in fact, there is still plenty of time for Cox to join the next 007 film.

“For years, I thought, you know I would love to be in James Bond,” Cox said.

“It would be really interesting. And I thought this was my moment, but it wasn’t.”
