Brit smashed herself with hammer to sell phony claims about sex trafficking, new film reveals

A shameless British woman spent years claiming she was gang raped and trafficked by “Asian groomers,” going so far as to smash herself in the head with a hammer to sell the ruse, a new documentary reveals.

Eleanor Williams, 23, went to extraordinary lengths to hold up phony claims that she was repeatedly sold for sex from the time she was 12, filing complaints with cops until the scam was finally exposed and landed her in prison, according to a new BBC documentary.

“Liar: The Fake Grooming Scandal” offers never-before-seen footage of Williams’ years-long scam, which shook the UK and put innocent men in danger.

“It’s hard to understand why somebody would go to those lengths and what the motivation would be, other than a desperation to be believed,” Cumbria Detective Constable John Robinson said in the documentary.

Williams, who was sentenced to more than eight years in prison in March after being convicted on nine counts of perverting the course of justice, went viral after posting her claims on Facebook that she was beaten, raped and “groomed” by Asian thugs.

She first claimed she was raped and trafficked when she was just 16 years old, according to reports.

In one police photo, Williams’ face is badly battered, with her right eye so severely bruised that it is entirely swollen shut, although she appears to be smiling in the photo.

She made repeated claims over the following three years — including summoning cops to her apartment in Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria in July 2019 claiming she was beaten and raped again.

Footage aired by BBC3 shows Williams looking woozy with blood dripping down her mouth as police try to determine what happened — at one point reaching out to the cop and whispering, “Help.”

It was all an act, according to authorities.

Police later unraveled the truth, and said just 20 minutes before she called cops she was seen on surveillance footage walking home seemingly uninjured.

In March, Williams apologized before being sentenced to prison, The Guardian reported.

“I understand that it’s your job to believe the jury’s verdict and that’s OK,” she wrote in a letter to the judge, according to the outlet. “I know I have made some mistakes, I’m sorry. I know it’s no excuse but I was young and confused.

“I’m not saying I’m guilty but I know I have done wrong on some of this and I’m sorry,” she added. “I’m devastated at the trouble that has been caused in Barrow. If I knew what consequences would have come from that status I never would have posted it.”

Williams’ lies carried serious consequences, with one of the men she falsely accused, business owner Mohammed Ramzan, attempting to take his own life after his arrest.

Another man wrongly accused — who spent 73 days behind bars — had his windows smashed and the word “rapist” spray painted on his house after she named him as an attacker.
