Britney Spears honors Janet Jackson as reignited feud with Justin Timberlake continues
This feud is becoming a media circus.
Britney Spears paid tribute to Janet Jackson on Saturday proclaiming that the singer had kept her “dreams and heart alive” amid her renewed feud with Justin Timberlake.
“Thank you to this beautiful lady for keeping my dreams and heart alive,” the pop princess, 42, wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post. “She’s always been the deepest and brightest woman at the same time. She went through so much but I feel she is someone I will look up to for the rest of my life.”
The “Womanizer” singer also included a photo of Jackson’s 1993 “Janet” album cover writing: “Thank you for your music and your divine way of untangling intelligence to a far more clear view than anyone could ever imagine.”
Before the post’s deletion, several fans speculated that Spears was taking a side in the controversy surrounding Jackson’s and Timberlake’s Super Bowl 38 Halftime Show.
In 2004, the “All For You” singer suffered an onstage mishap when Timberlake, 43, grabbed her leather top and accidentally exposed her breasts.
The “Sexy Back” singer later claimed that the “wardrobe malfunction” was “not intentional and is regrettable.”
Timberlake later issued another apology to Jackson, 57, in 2021 saying that he “failed” the singer, who faced the majority of the backlash after the performance.
Spear’s post also comes after news that the couple, who dated from 1999 to 2002, had seemingly reignited their feud.
“I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about, I am deeply sorry,” Spears captioned a second-deleted Instagram post of Timberlake on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
In the message, Spears admitted that she was “in love” with Timberlake’s new track, “Selfish.”
“It is soo good and how come every time I see Justin and Jimmy together I laugh so hard,” she gushed.”Ps ‘Sanctified’ is wow too,” Spears added, referencing a second track on Timberlake’s new album, “Everything I Thought It Was.”
Timberlake later fired back at his ex claiming “I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to absolutely f–king nobody.”
The vague statement was made by the “Mirror” singer while he was performing at his 43rd birthday party in New York City.
Seemingly angered by her ex-beau’s statement, Spears retorted with a third post on Instagram where she claimed that she was “not sorry.”
“Someone told me someone was talking s–t about me on the streets,” the “Toxic” singer wrote under a photo of a basketball hoop with the moon behind it. “Do you want to bring it to the court or will you go home crying to your mom like you did last time???”
“I’m not sorry!!!” the post concluded.
The songstress aired the duo’s dirty laundry in her memoir, “The Woman in Me,” where she claimed that Timberlake cheated on her during their very public romance.
Spears also alleged the former *NSYNC member forced her to get an abortion when she wouldn’t have made that choice “if it had been up to me.”
“I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” wrote the singer. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”
“I’m sure people will hate me for this, but I agreed not to have the baby. I don’t know if that was the right decision,” continued Spears, who was recently separated at the time of the book’s release. “If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.”
