Bronx subway gunmen on the loose after killing bystander, injuring 5 others as cops release first photos of suspects
Two gunmen remained on the loose after a deadly subway shooting that left a bystander dead and five others wounded — as police the first photos of the suspects were revealed Tuesday.
The photos appear to show one male suspect in a ski mask fleeing the scene wearing a black jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt and white and red Air Jordan sneakers, police said.
The other man is seen wearing a black Northface jacket, gray hooded sweatshirt, a black ski mask pulled up over his mouth, dark pants, and black and yellow Air Jordan sneakers, police said.
Both men are believed to be in their 20s, police said.
The shooting happened in the Bronx around 4:40 p.m. at the Mount Eden station on the platform of a northbound 4 train, police said.
Witnesses said the tragedy started with a fight among people who appeared to be in their teens.
Two suspects then pulled out firearms and let loose 10 shots, one of which struck and killed a 35-year-old man who had been an innocent bystander, police sources said.
A 14-year-old girl, a 15-year-old boy, a 29-year-old woman and two men, ages 71 and 28, were also shot. The five surviving victims were hospitalized in stable condition.
After the shooting the suspects fled the scene on foot heading northbound on Jerome Avenue toward Featherbed Lane, police said.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on the shooting or the suspects to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline.
