Bruce Springsteen postpones remaining 2023 tour dates due to peptic ulcer disease
Bruce Springsteen is sitting out the rest of the year. Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band have officially postponed the remainder of their 2023 tour dates due to the frontman struggling with peptic ulcer disease.
“Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support,” Springsteen, 74, said in a statement posted on social media Wednesday. “I’m on the mend and can’t wait to see you all next year.”
Tickets for postponed performances will remain valid, while makeup dates will be announced. Refunds are available for anyone who can’t make their rescheduled concerts if they submit requests within 30 days of the 2024 shows being announced.
The New Jersey native has “continued to recover steadily from peptic ulcer disease over the past few weeks and will continue treatment through the rest of the year on doctor’s advice,” a statement from his team read via Instagram.
The note added that the decision was made “out of an abundance of caution.”
The “Glory Days” musician previously postponed his September shows due to his symptoms.
“Over here on E Street, we’re heartbroken to have to postpone these shows,” a statement posted on The Boss’ Instagram read at the time.
“First, apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some. Thank you for your understanding and support,” he continued. “We’ve been having a blast at our US shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon. Love and God bless all, Bruce.”
Symptoms of peptic ulcers include pain in the upper part of your abdomen, nausea and vomiting, bloating and belching and feeling full too soon while eating a meal, according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disease. Springsteen has not specified what symptoms he’s experiencing.
The “I’m on Fire” singer last performed at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, on Sept. 1.
