Burt’s Bees, Hidden Valley Ranch lip balms sell out within hours
They’re winging it!
Worlds collided this week when Burt’s Bees and Hidden Valley Ranch teamed up to launch a savory set of lip balms — that taste like a basket of Buffalo wings.
What started as a social media prank on April Fools Day in 2022 became a reality on Wednesday with the drop of the four-pack of limited edition “Ranch Dippers” lip balms in crunchy celery, fresh carrot, Buffalo sauce and ranch flavors.
“It’s a wing basket in balm form just for game day,” Hidden Valley posted on Instagram announcing the $11.99 set which is “NOT FOR CONSUMPTION. Obviously.”
The saucy balms, which can be layered “for best flavor combos” sold out within hours — and resellers are already hawking the set online for $250.
Those who snagged their set were all smiles.
“I ordered a set — I am here for it,” wrote one lucky purchaser on Instagram.
“I assumed ‘zesty collaboration’ meant citrus — never saw this coming!!” said another.
“I ordered two — one for myself, one to prank my mom after she expressed dismay that this exists!”
Those who missed out are already begging for a second release.
“Please, I beseech you to bring this back in force!” begged one grandparent.
“It would be a superb Christmas/birthday gift for my grandkids, who use lip balm, love Hidden Valley Ranch, love Burt’s, and expect lip balm of unusual flavors from Grandma and Grandpa on every special occasion.”
Another wrote: “I love these little ranch sticks, good flavor, good consistency, but it was smaller than expected, each stick maybe lasts 2-3 bites and they’re gone.”
The one-of-a-kind collab, comes ahead of Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11; the game is the biggest chicken wing consumption day of the year.
Mariah Eckhardt, general manager at Burt’s Bees said “fans responded so enthusiastically” to the April Fools social post featuring Hidden Valley Ranch lip balm that honchos decided to make the gag real.
In March, Hidden Valley teamed up with Van Leeuwen ice cream for a shocking dressing-flavored treat, and in 2021 linked up with another controversial item — Crocs — for a clog now reselling online for over $300.
