Butcher trolls King Charles by selling his ‘sausage fingers’
This butcher makes a mean “Chuck roast.”
A cheeky New Zealand butcher has devised a unique — albeit cruel — way to cash in on King Charles III’s ascension.
Avon’s Butchery in Auckland is allegedly selling sausages inspired by the monarch’s notorious link-like fingers. Posts detailing these Kiwi’s creations blew up the interwebs after Charles took the throne.
The cheeky meat merchants had first poked fun at King Charles’ decidedly meaty mitts in a since-deleted post announcing one of their new ranges, the Mirror reported. They had uploaded a pic of the new sovereign with sausages superimposed over his fingers, alongside the caption: “I’m going to hell.”
While it initially seemed like just a savage sight gag, the savvy marketers apparently put their money where Chuck’s fingers were. A follow-up pic showcased a package of sausages labeled “King Charles Sausage Fingers,” which was proudly displayed in their storefront window. Meanwhile, the caption suggested that Avon had “limited stocks” of His Majesty’s-themed hot dogs, presumably due to the throngs of buyers waiting to get their hands on these trolling tube steaks.
King Charles III’s alleged swollen-red “sausage fingers” have been ridiculed for years. However, internet trolls recently ramped up the roasting after the royal ascended the throne following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
These meat-spirited barbs included juxtaposing the hand of the king alongside sausage pics and analogizing removing his ring to King Arthur pulling the sword from the stone.
“A reminder that these are King Charles III’s fingers,” read one of the many “Chuck roasts,” alongside pictures of the royal’s hands looking crimson and bloated. Interestingly, the king once publicly referred to himself as “sausage fingers” in a letter to a pal before Prince William was born.
Dr. Gareth Nye, a senior lecturer at the University of Chester, has since weighed in on what King Charles’ fleshy fingers could mean for the monarch’s health.
The doc explained that while “loads of conditions” could cause bloated fingers, some afflictions were more likely than others such as oedema or fluid retention.
“Oedema is a condition where the body starts to retain fluids in the limbs, normally the legs and ankles but also in the fingers, which causes them to swell,” Nye told the Daily Star. “Oedema is a common condition and mostly affects people over the age of 65 as the ability for fluid control is restricted.”
Other possible causes of swelling included arthritis, a high salt diet and medications such as blood pressure pills and steroids, per the physician.
Despite the alarming litany of potential ailments, Nye assured the public that there is nothing to be alarmed about at present. “There aren’t any immediate health concerns to be concluded from swollen fingers and is most likely a sign of his age,” he insisted.
