California man allegedly plotted ‘Las Vegas-style’ mass shooting

A California man was arrested Sunday for allegedly plotting a “Las Vegas-style” mass shooting and threatening to kill cops, police said.

Dallas Marsh, 37, was taken into custody by SWAT officers at a Super 8 motel in Chico after detectives obtained evidence of his plot, according to a police statement.

The evidence included unspecified information that he had made “criminal threats to kill specific individuals, specified law enforcement officers, and was preparing to commit a ‘Las Vegas style’ mass shooting with a specified deadline,” said the statement from the Chico Police Department.

Authorities did not say what that deadline was, but Saturday will mark the fifth anniversary of the Las Vegas massacre.

Sixty people were killed and more than 400 were wounded when 64-year-old Stephen Paddock opened fire on the Route 91 Harvest music festival from a high-rise hotel on the Vegas Strip on Oct. 1, 2017.

According to the Chico police, after his arrest, Marsh threatened to kill additional officers and their families, and he battered an officer with a table during an interview.

There was no immediate word on a possible motive behind Marsh’s suspected plot.

He could face charges including making criminal threats and battery on a peace officer. He was held without bail at Butte County Jail.

A Facebook account that appears to belong to Marsh contains information and multiple photos suggesting that he is an Army veteran.

Under his “intro” section, Marsh wrote that he previously served as a US Army Delta Force commander.

The Post has reached out to the Army for comment concerning Marsh’s service record.
