Carlee Russell ex Thomar Latrell Simmons still confused over her fake kidnapping

Carlee Russell’s ex-boyfriend still has no idea why she faked her own abduction, pointing out that while the couple had a “little argument” leading up to her disappearance, it was “nothing to kidnap yourself over.”

While appearing last week on the podcast 205 Boyz, Thomar Latrell Simmons spoke about the perplexing case that captivated the nation when it dominated headlines beginning in mid-July.

Simmons said he believes nothing happened between the pair that would lead Russell to carry out the bizarre hoax that started when she mysteriously vanished shortly after calling 911 to report she found a toddler on the side of a busy Alabama highway.  

When police arrived on scene, she was missing, though her red Mercedes-Benz with her cell phone and wig were left behind.

The 26-year-old reappeared at her parents’ house two days later, claiming she was taken and held captive, though the tale later fell apart.

Simmons, 25, said he didn’t notice a change in her behavior before she willingly went missing.

“I mean we had a little argument but it wasn’t nothing to kidnap yourself over,” he said with a chuckle on the podcast.

Two weeks before the fake kidnapping, the couple took a trip to New York City where they had a good time, Simmons said.

“We were having fun,” he said on the podcast that’s posted on YouTube. “We were going and taking tours to the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge.”

“I’m confused, like what happened?” he said at one point on the podcast he hosts with a friend. “What made you do this? I don’t understand.”

Russell, through her lawyer, later admitted there was no kidnapping or baby on the side of the road.

The nursing student was charged with one count of false reporting to law enforcement and one count of falsely reporting an incident.

After the truth came to light, Simmons said he was shocked that Russell orchestrated the whole ordeal and insisted she could have told him the truth before public officials revealed it.

“I was mad,” he said, noting he’s still trying to cope and heal. “I was sad. I was in all types of emotions.”

He previously said he was disgusted and blindsided by Russell’s actions.

Russell hasn’t tried to reach out to her ex since the two broke up, Simmons said on the podcast.

“We haven’t had no contact with each other,” he said, also denying during the podcast he was a clout chasing and vowed this would be the last time he talked about the unusual incident.
