Carlos Alcaraz wins Wimbledon: Rafael Nadal congratulates compatriot and tells him to ‘enjoy the moment champion’
Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios both congratulated Carlos Alcaraz on his Wimbledon triumph on Sunday evening after he battled past Novak Djokovic in a hugely impressive performance.
Alcaraz has mentioned both Djokovic and Nadal as inspirations from his childhood, given the age disparity between the veteran pair and the new kid on the block.

The Mallorcan, who is currently sidelined through injury but has two Wimbledon titles to his name, was quick to celebrate the success of his fellow Spaniard soon after the Wimbledon final.
He wrote, in Spanish, on Twitter: “Congratulations, Carlos Alcaraz. You have given us immense joy today and I am sure that our pioneer in Spanish tennis, Manolo Santana, has also been cheering wherever he is, such as Wimbledon, whom you have joined today.
“A very strong hug and enjoy the moment, champion!”
Last year, Australia’s Kyrgios was a surprise finalist, losing to Djokovic in their match-up, and he also added his thoughts on the social media site, praising both players.
He tweeted: “Haven’t watched a whole tennis match in a long time, haha. “THANK YOU Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz for putting on that incredible performance. Congratulations to you both.”
Both Nadal and Kyrgios will no doubt be hoping they can both still challenge Alcaraz and Djokovic at future Grand Slams when they have regained full fitness.
