Carrie Fisher deserves ‘long overdue’ Hollywood honor: Mark Hamill

The Force will be with her, always.

Beloved “Star Wars” actress and author Carrie Fisher will finally receive a coveted star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame six years after her death.

The news of Fisher’s posthumous achievement was announced by the Walk of Fame Twitter account Monday and was retweeted by her “Star Wars” co-star Mark Hamill, who cited the honor as “long overdue & so well-deserved.

“Fans will be over the moon to know that their favorite movie princess Carrie Fisher will be honored with her star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame,” said Ana Martinez, the Walk of Fame’s producer. “Carrie will join her ‘Star Wars’ co-stars and fellow Walk of Famers Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford on this historic sidewalk.

“I am happy to add, that her star is just a few feet away from the star of Mark Hamill and across the street from the star of her legendary mother Debbie Reynolds,” added Martinez.

Hamill, 71, was granted the honor in 2018 while Ford, 80, gained his in 2003.

Fisher’s star — the 2,745th added to the walkway — will be installed May 4, a day many fans of the sci-fi saga have taken to calling “Star Wars Day” (May the fourth be with you!), and be accepted by her acting daughter, Billie Lourd.

When reached by The Post, Hamill’s reps declined to add further comment on Fisher’s honor. Ford and Lourd were also asked to provide statements.

Fisher died in December 2016 at 60, four days after suffering a heart attack while flying from London to Los Angeles to promote her final memoir, “The Princess Diarist.”

Remarkably, her mother, “Singin’ in the Rain” star Reynolds, died just one day later at 84 due to a hemorrhagic stroke.

According to brother Todd Fisher, the pain of losing her daughter was “too much” for Reynolds.

Lourd, 30, posted a tribute to her late mother on the six-year anniversary of her death last December.

“Unlike most other years since she’s died, this year, these past two weeks have been some of the most joyful of my life,” wrote the “Scream Queen” star on Instagram.

“Giving birth to my daughter and watching my son meet her have been two of the most magical moments I have ever experienced. But with the magic of life tends to come the reality of grief,” she continued. “My mom is not here to meet either of them and isn’t here to experience any of the magic. Sometimes the magical moments can also be the hardest. That’s the thing about grief.

“I wish my Momby were here, but she isn’t,” she continued. “So all I can do is hold onto the magic harder, hug my kids a little tighter. Tell them a story about her. Share her favorite things with them. Tell them how much she would have loved them.”
