Chelsea add Roony Bardghji and Viktor Gyokeres to striker shortlist for January transfer window – Paper Round

Chelsea draw up five-man striker shortlist

Chelsea have five players on their striker shortlist, according to the Evening Standard.

The paper reports that Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting Lisbon, and FC Copenhagen’s Roony Bardghji are the new names on the list.

The club are keen on adding some physicality to their forward line and are making plans ahead of the January transfer window.

The paper writes: “Chelsea have added Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and FC Copenhagen’s Roony Bardghji to a five-man striker shortlist, as they plot a move for a new frontman in January.

“Mauricio Pochettino has suggested Chelsea need to spend again to boost their firepower and he wants a targetman-style forward to add height, physicality and goals to his team.

“Gyokeres, a 6ft 2in Sweden international who has scored 15 goals in 18 matches for Sporting this season after moving to Portugal from Coventry last summer, fits that profile. The 25-year-old has an £87 million release clause.

“Napoli’s 6ft 1in forward Victor Osimhen is also high on the Chelsea wishlist, while they also have interest in Brentford’s Ivan Toney who is the same height.”

United linked with Rabiot again

Manchester United could try once more to sign Adrien Rabiot, as it was suggested that the Juventus midfielder is yet to agree fresh terms with his current club.

United bid for Rabiot in 2022 but were reportedly unable to agree to his salary demands to complete the deal.

“Adrien Rabiot’s mum has shut down claims that the Manchester United target has already agreed a new contract with Juventus,” the Mirror reports.

“Rabiot, 28, signed a one-year extension to his deal over the summer which left his long-term future up for debate. Despite United being on “excellent terms” with the French midfielder and his mother-agent Veronique, though, it was reported last week that they had again missed out on the chance to sign him.

“But the Red Devils have suddenly been given hope of finally bringing in the former Paris Saint-Germain star, who Juventus agreed to sell to United for £15 million in the summer of 2022. Football director John Murtough even flew out to Turin to seal the deal, only for Rabiot’s ‘obscene’ salary demands to prove too much during Ten Hag’s tumultuous first transfer window as manager.

“The Red Devils could now renew their interest in the 28-year-old.”

Van de Beek wanted by two clubs

Donny van de Beek could be a player who departs Manchester United in the winter transfer window, according to The Sun.

The midfielder has struggled ever since he joined United from Ajax in 2020 and he is wanted by both Giron and Eintracht Frankfurt.

“Donny van de Beek is set to leave Manchester United with Eintracht Frankfurt leading the race to sign him,” the report claims.

“The Dutchman has failed to break into the United squad since being signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2020.

“And even under new boss Erik ten Hag, who coached him at Ajax, the midfielder has still been isolated from the starting XI.

“It has left his Old Trafford future in doubt as Van de Beek desperately looks to end his United nightmare.

“It could see the former Ajax star leave on loan in January

“La Liga leaders Girona, who have the same owners as Man City, are also said to be interested.”

Arsenal may look at swap deal for Boey

Arsenal may have a way to land Galatasaray defender Sacha Boey.

The Frenchman is a target for Arsenal and they might be able to cut a deal with his Turkish side in a swap deal with Thomas Partey.

The Express explains: “Arsenal have been presented with a swap deal opportunity by Manchester United’s Champions League opponents Galatasaray. The Turkish club reportedly want to sign Thomas Partey and the Gunners could look to get long-term target Sacha Boey in exchange.

“Partey has been linked with a move away from Arsenal since the summer. The Ghana star has played just four Premier League matches this season due to injury.

“He is currently on his way back from a thigh problem but may not return until the New Year. Mikel Arteta has admitted Partey’s fitness issues have been a concern and he could look to replace him in January.

“Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has asked the club’s hierarchy to sign Partey. Takvim says a loan offer for Partey is set to come once they have removed [Tanguy] Ndombele from their books.

“However, if Arsenal want to bring in a replacement, they would likely prefer a permanent deal. And they could attempt to lure Boey as part of the move.”
