Manchester City target Barca midfielder De Jong after missing out on Rice – Paper Round

“Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek have all departed Stamford Bridge on permanent deals as Todd Boehly tries to balance the books after spending £600million since taking over just over a year ago. Meanwhile, Denis Zakaria has returned to Juventus and Tiemoue Bakayoko’s contract expired last month.
“With Enzo Fernandez, Conor Gallagher and Carney Chukwuemeka the only senior central midfielders at the club right now, Pochettino is set to dip into the market to sign someone in that position. Several players have been linked with a move to the Blues, including Declan Rice and Sergei Milinkovic-Savic.”
Inter Miami target Iniesta
Spanish newspaper Marca reports that Inter Miami could be in for another former Barcelona player.
They have Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets, and are in talks with Jordi Alba. The next player on the list could be Andres Iniesta.
“According to RAC1, the club coached by Tata Martino is one of the clubs that want to sign the midfielder from La Mancha, who has brought his time at Japanese club Vissel Kobe, where he has played since 2018, to an end.
“The 39-year-old former Barcelona midfielder still wants to continue playing and Inter Miami want him in their squad, despite his advancing years.”
Milan make second offer for Pulisic
AC Milan have made another bid for Christian Pulisic, offering around £19 million for the 24-year-old American international.
“The USA international has made it clear to Chelsea he only wishes to join Milan who made an opening offer of $15m plus add-ons at the weekend.
“Lyon made a rival bid but Pulisic told Chelsea he would not join the French side irrespective of their offer.“
United fail in Andre Onana bid
Manchester United may start the season as Tom Heaton as their first choice goalkeeper after seeing David de Gea leave, and having an offer for Andre Onana rejected.
“Inter Milan’s Onana, 27, has emerged as a top target to replace De Gea with an opening £39m bid lodged.
“United are without a No1 after David de Gea’s contract expired in the summer without an extension being signed.
“United are set to hold talks with Dean Henderson after the academy graduate spent last season on loan with Nottingham Forest.
“But Henderson is carrying a thigh injury which is set to rule him out for the start of pre-season.
“So veteran Tom Heaton, 37, is the only senior keeper fit, making him favourite to start in Oslo.”
