Man Utd ditch Mount pursuit in favour of £80m Caicedo – Paper Round

“England star Mount is approaching the final year of his contract, and has attracted interest from Manchester United. There is still some distance between the two clubs’ valuation of the 24-year-old, with United yet to meet the Blues’ £65m asking price.
“With Chelsea bringing in fees for the likes of Kai Havertz and Edouard Mendy, a move for Caicedo also remains on the table. More money through the sale of Mount could help in that regard, especially if it means United – who have also re-entered the race for Caicedo – give them a free run at the Brighton talent.
“Chelsea are prepared to bring the Mount saga to a close with ‘little to gain’ from the Englishman returning to first team training under new manager Mauricio Pochettino. The Blues’ higher-ups are said to be willing to compromise after United fell short of the £58m plus £7m in add-ons valuation.”
City may bid for Veiga
“Manchester City have entered the race after backing out of a deal to sign Declan Rice,” the paper says.
“Veiga, who has a £34million release clause, is under strong consideration by the treble winners.
“The 21-year-old scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 36 league appearances for Celta last term.
“He also showed his versatility in midfield, starring in both attacking and defensive roles for the club.”
City may focus on Gvardiol
The Mail believes that Manchester City will look towards securing Josko Gvardiol before worrying about midfield acquisitions.
Having signed Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea, they are also looking to resolve the futures of Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez first.
“City refused to match Arsenal’s £105million bid for the England international, a fee that went further than their valuation of the West Ham United captain.
“The Treble winners are working on a deal for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol but are more concerned with the futures of some of Pep Guardiola’s biggest names.
“Other new faces are dependant on the likes of Silva, though. Leicester City’s James Maddison and Gabriel Veiga have both caught the attention, as previously reported by Mail Sport.
“It remains to be seen whether City firm up their interest in the Spain Under-21 international, who has a £35m release clause, while Tottenham have moved quickly to secure Maddison and are currently wrapping up a £40m move.”
Mbappe’s huge salary is obstacle for Real
Spanish newspaper Marca explains clearly why Kylian Mbappe’s huge salary at Paris Saint-Germain makes any summer move to Real Madrid close to unaffordable.
“It is therefore practically impossible for Real Madrid to deal with this operation if Mbappe makes it a condition not to lose money and PSG ask for the transfer to recover at least the investment in wages from last season, around 200 million gross. Los Blancos would have to pay 400m between the salary of the first season and the transfer, which is unfeasible.”
