Chelsea suffer blow in Moises Caicedo pursuit from Brighton as Robert Sanchez deal nears completion – Paper Round
Brighton ‘expect’ Caicedo to remain at the club
Chelsea are close to finalising a deal for Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, according to various reports, but their ambition of luring Moises Caicedo from the Amex Stadium has been dealt a blow.
The Blues have been pursuing the 21-year-old Ecuador international throughout the summer and have reportedly had an £80 million deal turned down.
The report continues: “It’s understood the Seagulls have been impressed by the midfielder’s attitude while speculation about his future intensifies”, adding that they “expect” him to still be a Brighton player when the window closes.
Arsenal make formal bid for Raya
Arsenal have lodged a formal offer for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, claim the Daily Star, via Fabrizio Romano.
The 27-year-old is a surprise target for Mikel Arteta’s side with many now questioning the future of Aaron Ramsdale at the club.
The report states: “The offer is worth an initial £20m plus £3m in add-ons, which is more than the £18.5m Arsenal paid Sheffield United to sign Ramsdale in 2021.”
It adds: “It’s unlikely the bid will satisfy the Bees following reports earlier this summer that the club is seeking £40m to part ways with the player.
“The capital club may be expected to significantly revise their initial bid before Brentford will do business.”
Spurs preparing bid for £12m-rated Veliz
Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing highly-rated forward Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central.
The striker, 19, is a youth international and has caught the eye for Rosario, and for Argentina at the Under-20 World Cup.
