‘Chicago P.D.’ stars Jesse Lee Soffer and Tracy Spiridakos are dating

Jay Halstead and Hailey Upton weren’t just partners on TV.

“Chicago P.D.” stars Jesse Lee Soffer and Tracy Spiridakos are dating, The Post can exclusively confirm.

A source reveals that the couple have secretly been together for years.

Soffer, 39, and Spiridakos, 35, starred alongside each other on the NBC drama for six years. Their characters were partnered in the Intelligence Unit and later married in Season 9.

The Post has reached out to reps for Soffer and Spiridakos for comment.

Soffer announced his departure from the show after 10 years in August 2022. His final episode, “A Good Man,” aired that October and he currently resides in Los Angeles.

“I’ve thought so hard about how to answer this question — and there’s no good answer,” Soffer told Variety in February 2023 about why he left. “Except I was ready for more. Eventually, you know the character so well, there’s not much that can shift or transform.”

He went on: “I really wanted to grow and expand, and we’ve only got this one trip. If I signed up again, it would have been for another three years. I would have turned 40 on the show. I thought, ‘You know what? It’s time to take a risk.’”

Spiridakos will be following his lead. In October 2023, it was reported that she, too, will be leaving after eight seasons in Season 11, which is currently filming.

The actress has played Upton since joining in Season 4 as a recurring character. She became a series regular in Season 5.

After Soffer’s exit, viewers were left confused when Halstead began to ghost his on-screen wife.

“I know the fans are upset because, like, ‘This isn’t the Jay that we know and love! Why isn’t he calling? Why is he doing this?!’ But, you know, the show must go on,” he told Variety. “I don’t think I really have the right to feel any way about that. The writers have to do what they have to do to service the story and the characters that are still there.”

Spiridakos, meanwhile, gushed over her beau via social media after his departure.

“I guess the word is out … Jesse, what can I say, you’re the absolute best. Thank you for your kindness, your guidance and your friendship,” she wrote in a touching Instagram post at the time. “You’re the greatest onscreen husband a girl could ask for. I’ll miss being on set with you every day. I can’t wait to see what the world has in store for you next. #upsteadforever.”

The procedural drama also stars Jason Beghe, Patrick John Flueger, Marina Squerciati, LaRoyce Hawkins and Amy Morton. In September 2023 during an NBC interview, Squerciati even said that Soffer and Spiridakos felt “like a real couple” when filming in character.

Production on the series — including “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago Med” — picked back up in November after the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes were resolved.

The couple were photographed on the picket line together at the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, Calif., on Aug. 31.

On Jan. 6, Spiridakos shared a photo from set via Instagram. “Lower Wacker, where cell service goes to die (IYKYK) #yesweareworkingonasaturday #chicagoPD,” she captioned a pic with Hawkins.

Over the holidays, Soffer also made his way back to Chicago for the show’s holiday party. Producer Brian Luce shared a photo of the pair on Instagram.

“So sorry Unwana that these two people stepped in front of you and ruined the picture. @spiridakos @jesseleesoffer WELL ANYWAYS Merry Christmas Unwanna,,,,,, the nerve of some people. Giggle giggle,” he wrote.

Soffer previously dated co-star Sophia Bush, who left the series in 2017 at the end of the fourth season. They called it quits in June 2015 after more than a year of dating.

“Chicago P.D.” Season 11 is scheduled to return on Jan. 17 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
