Chris Evans on downside to being ‘Sexiest Man Alive’: ‘It’s tough’
He’s playing it cool.
Chris Evans, 41, admits his certified sexy status has some drawbacks — particularly, hazing from his friends.
Evans appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Monday to promote his new film, “Ghosted,” but Fallon had some other talking points in mind — namely, Evans being crowned 2022’s “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine.
According to Evans, the illustrious title comes with a bit of teasing.
“So they haze you, and it almost feels like it’s — that’s all that title does is give you a hard time, you know what I mean?” Evans laughed. “Like, nobody on the street’s like, ‘Hey. You know what? You did it.’ No, they’re just busting your balls.”
Fallon also asked about Evans’ “Sexiest Man” predecessor — fellow Marvel star Paul Rudd — who was awarded the title in 2021.
When Evans earned the crown, he gave Rudd, 54, a shoutout on Instagram, saying it’s “damn near impossible” to follow in his footsteps.
“But I’ll do my best,” he quipped in the post.
Nearly six months on, Evans stands by his words.
“I mean, pretty much in any capacity, it’s tough to follow him, isn’t it?” the actor, who is in a fantasy football league with Rudd, pointed out to Fallon.
Evans’ latest film — which also stars Ana de Armas — premieres April 21 on Apple TV+. It’s the pair’s third film together, after 2019’s “Knives Out” and last year’s “The Gray Man.”
In the romantic action-comedy, Sadie (played by de Armas) ghosts Cole (Evans) after a date. He manages to track her down, discovering that she’s a secret agent, and they embark on an adventure to save the world.
