Chris Young charges dismissed days arrest at Nashville bar

Charges against country star Chris Young have been dismissed just days after the 38-year-old was arrested following an incident at a Tennessee bar, the Nashville district attorney confirmed Friday evening. 

His charges included assaulting an officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest at the DawgHouse Saloon in Nashville. 

“Regarding the Chris Young incident — After a review of all the evidence in this case, the Office of the District Attorney has determined that these charges will be dismissed,” Nashville District Attorney Glenn Funk said in a statement.

Bill Ramsey, Young’s attorney, said in a statement sent to Fox News Digital: “Mr. Young and I are gratified with the DA’s decision clearing him of the charges and any wrong-doing.” 

Earlier this week, Ramsey had called for the charges against Young to be dropped based on surveillance video from the DawgHouse Saloon that seemed to contradict the claim that he assaulted an officer.  

“What happened to my client Chris Young at a bar in Nashville on Monday night was wrong and he never should have been arrested and charged in the first place,” Ramsey said in a statement to Fox News Digital on Wednesday. “In light of the video evidence, Tennessee [Alcoholic Beverage Commission] needs to drop the charges and apologize for the physical, emotional and professional harm done toward my client.”

On Monday night, agents from the Alcoholic Beverage Commission entered the Tin Roof bar to complete a compliance check, according to the arrest affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital.

The affidavit claimed that Young and some friends then followed the agents to the DawgHouse Saloon. 

While attempting to leave the establishment, an agent said Young put out his arm to block his exit and allegedly struck him.

The ABC agent said he pushed the musician back to create distance and other bar patrons became involved.

Young had to be physically detained with handcuffs while his associates continued to make the situation hostile, according to the original affidavit: “Mr. Young’s eyes were blood shot and watery as well as having blurred speech.”

Reps for Young said the singer is now looking forward to releasing his new album and heading out on tour soon. 

In a statement sent to Fox News Digital Friday evening, the Tennessee Alcohol Beverage Commission said, “We respect General Funk’s decision to drop the charges against Mr. Young. All law enforcement and first responders deserve to be safe while on duty. For your safety and theirs, we ask the public to not make physical contact or interfere with officers while they are working.”
