Christine Baumgartner ordered to pay Kevin Costner’s attorney fees

The estranged wife of ‘Yellowstone” actor Kevin Costner must be seeing red.

A judge has ordered Christine Baumgartner to pay his attorney’s fees.

The 49-year-old will be required to pay the $14,237.50 worth of legal fees the actor accumulated during discussions regarding whether or not Baumgartner understood the prenuptial agreement she signed before their wedding in 2004, TMZ reported.

It’s still unclear whether or not Baumgartner will challenge the prenup.

If she does and loses, she will also be required to pay the attorney’s fees incurred in defending the prenup.

The outlet previously reported that the 68-year-old actor’s legal team filed a court document asking if his former partner actually comprehended what she signed.

“Christine asserts she cannot admit or deny that she understood the Premarital Agreement because she (and apparently all of her attorneys) do not understand the word ‘understand,’” the court docs read, per the outlet.

Costner’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, wrote in the filing, “Christine’s counsel asked for a definition of ‘understood’ and Kevin’s counsel provided the dictionary meaning of the word ‘understood,’ to wit, ‘comprehended or perceive the intended meaning of words.’”

Per TMZ, the filing came after Baumgartner’s lawyer objected to Wasser stating that Baumgartner “understood the legal effect of the premarital agreement before you signed the premarital agreement.”

Her attorney responded stating that the “request is vague as to the scope and meaning of the terms ‘understood,’” adding that Baumgartner was “unable to admit or deny the request.”

However, if the former model challenges the prenup, TMZ reports that she will have to return the $1.5 million Costner gave her and pay his attorney’s fees.

This comes after Baumgartner lost her bid to increase her ex’s child support payments.

A judge ruled Friday that the “Yellowstone” star would be ordered to give Baumgartner just $63,209 monthly, according to TMZ, a drastic drop from the $248,000 a month payment she requested.

The decision comes amid a bitter months-long saga that began when the famed couple filed for divorce in May, citing “irreconcilable differences” after an 18-year marriage.

Costner finally addressed the tense situation on Friday after his win. “This is a horrible place to be, but this is where we’re at,” he told Access Hollywood.

“It feels so bad,” the actor said outside of the courtroom. “We’re talking about somebody I love on the other side. I just can’t.”

Baumgartner has since reportedly moved out of the couple’s family home and begun planning to enter the workforce to support herself and her children.
