Co-star Abigail Breslin pays tribute

Abigail Breslin is mourning the loss of her former co-star Evan Ellingson after news broke that the “My Sister’s Keeper” actor died Sunday. He was 35.

“Evan Ellingson was a kind, funny and extremely talented human being,” Breslin, 27, wrote in a touching Instagram tribute on Monday.

“Evan was a genuinely thoughtful person who cared so much about turning in the best performance, which he accomplished,” Breslin continued. “Some of his scenes in MSK still give me chills.”

The “Little Miss Sunshine” actress continued her tribute by calling Ellingson “silly, funny, [and] a prankster.”

“He was energetic and the life of the party,” the “Stillwater” star recalled, adding that her late friend was a “lover of Red Bull (I hated the smell of Red Bull).”

Within the tribute, which featured a picture of the duo on the set of 2009’s “My Sister’s Keeper,” Breslin lamented the fact that she “didn’t keep in touch a lot with him,” but said that the “CSI” star “always stayed in my mind as a wonderful and sweet soul.”

“Evan, I know Heaven will welcome you with open arms. Your time on this earth may have been, devastatingly, short,” Breslin concluded. “Your humor, exuberance, kindness and bright light will linger forever.”

She concluded: “Sending you peace on your journey to the great beyond and who knows … maybe one day, I’ll meet you in Montana. Xx, abster.”

Based on the 2004 novel of the same name, “My Sister’s Keeper” follows one family whose daughter (Sofia Vassilieva) is diagnosed with cancer and in an effort to save her, conceives a “savior sister” (Breslin) to donate blood stem cells.

Ellingson, who stars as the girl’s brother Jesse, later helps Breslin’s character sue for medical emancipation from her parents (Cameron Diaz and Jason Patric).

As The Post previously reported, Ellingson was found dead in a sober-living home in San Bernardino County, California, over the weekend.

Police have yet to issue a cause and manner of death. According to TMZ, they do not suspect foul play.

According to Ellingson’s family, the actor struggled with drugs in the past but was reportedly doing much better.

Ellingson’s father, Michael, told TMZ that his son’s passing was a complete shock to his family.

Ellingson also appeared in the 2001 TV film “Living in Fear” before appearing in smaller roles in shows such as “General Hospital,” “CSI: Miami,” the Kiefer Sutherland-led “24” and “Mad TV.”

“I never had the same [childhood] experience with my friends,” Ellingson once told The Philippine in 2009. “I never had more time with them. However, my childhood was a cool one. I was busy doing the things I love.”
