Coco Gauff rallies from set down to topple Aryna Sabalenka for maiden Grand Slam title at US Open

Coco Gauff fought back from a set down to beat Aryna Sabalenka and claim her maiden major title at the US Open.

Sabalenka, who will take over as world No. 1 on Monday, made a strong start in a bid to silence a partisan crowd in New York.

Guaff looked nervous early on and was on the back foot after dropping the opening set.

The teenager saved break points in the first game of the second set, and took control from that point.

Gauff became a wall at the back of the court, retrieving ball after ball and forcing Sabalanka into errors.

The Belarusian had no answers after dropping serve twice in the final set, as Gauff wrapped up a 2-6 6-3 6-2 win.
