Cole Sprouse reveals how often he talks to his former onscreen dad, Adam Sandler

But what about Scuba Steve?

Cole Sprouse still stays in touch with his famous on-screen dad Adam Sandler — years after starring as Sonny Koufax and Julian McGrath, respectively, in 1999’s “Big Daddy.”

“Adam Sandler and I talk every once in a while,” Sprouse, 31, revealed during a recent interview with Men’s Heath.

He further spilled that the two are planning to reunite in the near future.

“Actually, he’s coming to LA soon to shoot something that I’m going to go visit him on,” he continued.

“I saw him at the ‘Uncut Gems’ premiere, and it was wonderful,” he said, referring to Sandler’s hit 2019 movie.

“I hadn’t seen him for quite a long time, and we just sat and talked and had some drinks for an hour at the after-party.”

He noted that Sandler taking the time to talk to him at the event was, “So unnecessary, because it [was] his day — he really didn’t need to do that. But that’s just kind of the guy he is.”

He added: “He’s very grounded, and he’s always been that kind of dude, from what I recall.”

“Big Daddy” follows Sonny (Sandler), a slacker who is shocked to find that he seemingly has a 5-year-old son, Julian (played by both Cole and his twin, Dylan Sprouse).

Sandler isn’t Cole’s only famous on-screen dad, since he also played Ross’ (David Schwimmer) son, Ben, on “Friends.” On the CW’s pulpy show “Riverdale,” he played Jughead Jones, the son of FP Jones (“Scream” star Skeet Ulrich), too.

Cole has a closer relationship with Sandler than his other former TV dad, Schwimmer. He recently said that he hasn’t spoken to the “Friends” cast since his time on the show.

“Friends has become now such an iconic thing, this entity,” the Disney Channel child star told People.

“But I was only really on it for 10 episodes! I’ve actually never had the chance or never bumped into any of them,” he continued, adding that not seeing any of his old co-stars in Tinseltown “is almost more rare than the opposite.”

During an interview with Access Hollywood, Jennifer Aniston and Sandler both reflected on the fact that the Sprouse twins are now in their thirties.

“I knew what those kids were capable of,” Sandler said. “I set the table for the kids to hop on ‘Friends,’ that was one thing that Jen said when I first met her, ‘Just would you please break in the children for us?’”

“You did, and now look at them!” Aniston responded.

Cole and Dylan have worked separately in their adult careers, after sharing roles as kids, but Cole told Men’s Health that the twins have discussed working together again.

“It’s not off the table! But a lot of the stuff that’s twin-y is pretty lame; the twin thing can become a circus act if it’s not done well. And honestly, most of the time when it is done well, it’s usually one actor trying to show off by playing both twins. So it’s just about finding something that’s cool and interesting and that actually plays with the twin idea a little deeper than, like, ‘What if you said something at the same time?’”

His latest project is the horror comedy “Lisa Frankenstein,” (currently in theaters), penned by Diablo Cody (“Juno,” “Jennifer’s Body”), directed by Zelda Williams (Robin’s daughter).

“I had a conversation with myself about acting, and after ‘Riverdale,’ I landed on the idea that I should be doing films that my childhood self would enjoy watching, and this film met a lot of those criteria for me,” he said.

“If I had chosen acting,” he said, referring to the fact that he was a child star, “This would be a film that I would’ve loved to do.”

He further said that the entertainment arts can be “confusing.”

“It’s supposed to be a passion while simultaneously being a job. So you’re often confronted with the choice between art versus commerce, and trying to keep the passion as alive as possible while also making a financially stable career choice,” he continued. “This one was really about doing a movie that reminded me how acting can be a pursuit of love and passion. It just so happened to also involve all of my friends, which made it even better.”

Nonetheless, although he was six years old when he filmed “Big Daddy,”  he reflected, “I look back with a lot of fondness. I’ve had an incredibly lucky—or privileged—run, especially on TV, and I’ve gotten to work with a lot of people that are far more experienced. Probably the best thing to do, and I’m grateful that I did it in those situations, is just sit down, shut up, and listen. I had a lot of people hold my hand along the way, which was really nice.”
