Colorado fugitive mother Kimberlee Singler arrested in UK: police

The fugitive Colorado mother accused of killing two of her young children amid a custody battle with her ex-husband was captured overseas Saturday, local authorities said.

Kimberlee Singler was arrested “without incident” in the United Kingdom more than a week after she allegedly killed her 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son, and allegedly tried to kill her 11-year-old daughter, the Colorado Springs Police Department said in a statement to The Post on Sunday.

Police were responding to a burglary report when they discovered a grisly scene around 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 19. They found Singler and her oldest child injured and the two younger kids dead.

Singler and her 11-year-old were treated at the scene before they were taken to local hospitals.

A week later, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Singler, 35, on murder charges after further investigation.

The two young victims were identified Sunday as Elianna “Ellie” Wentz, 9, and Aden Wentz, 7, by their father, Kevin Wentz, FOX 21 reported.

Singler had vanished before her arrest and had not been seen since Dec. 23. A police spokesperson said she was at first treated as a burglary victim and was cooperating with investigators before she went on the run.

The children’s murders come as Singler and Wentz, her ex-husband, were engaged in a legal battle over parenting time and other issues, per court filings.

Wentz said in a statement to FOX 21 that he and his ex-wife had been in a bitter custody fight since 2018. Singler even accused him of child abuse, though the allegations were unfounded by the courts.

She also successfully requested a temporary protection order against Wentz in September in El Paso County, accusing Wentz of pulling a knife on her, and then made another request in November in Larimer County on the same allegation, but that was denied and he was not deemed a threat, the local station reported.

She was then ordered to allow him to make up for the lost time with his kids, according to the report.

But Singler didn’t bring the kids to an exchange on Dec. 16, resulting in a scheduled, in-person conference hearing on Dec. 20 with the three children, according to the station.

A Larimer County judge determined that Wentz should have full custody of the three children until a January 18, 2024 hearing, KRDO reported, citing court records.

The former husband and wife officially divorced in 2020 after splitting in 2018, the station reported.

The Post has reached out to an attorney for Wentz for comment.

Police did not divulge further information about her arrest or the accusations against her.

Colorado Springs police said it will hold a press conference at a later date when more details will be shared.

Singler is facing four counts of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree attempted murder, three counts of child abuse and one count of first-degree assault, police said.

Her bond was set at $10 million by the court when the arrest warrant was issued.

Police said the 11-year-old daughter was safe.
