Comedian Ron Sexton’s cause of death revealed

Comedian Ron Sexton’s cause of death has been revealed as fentanyl and alcohol overdose.

The Hamilton County coroner in Ohio confirmed it to the U.S. Sun on Monday.

“He died from the combined toxic effects of fentanyl and ethyl alcohol, which means he overdosed,” the coroner’s office told the outlet, and added that the blood alcohol in his system was a .202 at the time of his death.

Sexton died suddenly in July at age 52 in the middle of a tour, with 39 stops left to go. A friend reportedly called the police when Sexton failed to show up at a planned meeting, ahead of his performance in Dayton, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Tracy, and his five children: Eric, Alex, Abigail, Aliah Jim, and Ila.

At the time, his family wrote on Facebook, “It is with immense sadness that we let everyone know that Ron Sexton passed away yesterday. He was Donnie Baker to most of you, but Ron and Dad to us.”

“Ron was a much-loved colleague and friend, and we will miss him greatly,” “Bob & Tom Show” host Tom Griswold, 70, said as a tribute. “We send our sincerest condolences to his family and friends. He made many, many people happy during his more than 20 years with ‘The Bob & Tom Show,’ and we will remember him with love and gratitude.”

The Indiana-born comedian first became involved in radio while working for his high school’s station as a baseball commentator. In 2005, he joined “The Bob & Tom Show” and became popular for his character, Donnie Baker, and for his celebrity impersonations.

A few months before Sexton’s death, his alleged mistress’s husband allegedly shot his rental car nine times and shot out the rear window, according to the US Sun.

After Sexton was found dead in a motel room, the Harrison police initially opened up a criminal investigation, the outlet reports. However, the coroner told the outlet that since they now know his cause of death, there’s no longer any criminal investigation that they’re aware of.
