Cyprien Sarrazin conquers Kitzbuhel again to win second downhill in two days – ‘It’s incredible, it’s crazy’

Cyprien Sarrazin was crowned king of Kitzbuhel with a dominant downhill win.

Sarrazin lost time made after an early mistake but recovered to open up a lead of more than a second at one stage.

He clocked a top speed of 141.2kph during his run to the line in 1:52.96, claiming gold with Arnold Schwarzenegger and US politician John Kerry watching on.

“It’s incredible, it’s crazy. I love this sport and I love this feeling,” Sarrazin said. “There is nothing like it here and I will enjoy every moment.

“The run was incredible – I enjoyed it from top to bottom.

“I felt the speed. I crossed the finish line and looked around and saw the explosion of joy. It was like in Bormio, I felt like I did something crazy.

“There is nothing like it here and I will enjoy every moment.”

Marco Odermatt maintained his commanding lead at the top of the World Cup standings with silver, the only racer within a second of Sarrazin’s winning time.

Italy’s Dominik Paris, who has won three times on the Hahnenkamm, showed his top form to win bronze.
