Dad lies to strangers when they ask if he is babysitting his kid
When it comes to having kids, we all know that women do most of the hard work.
So nothing is more infuriating than when a dad gets praised for simply looking after his own child.
But what’s even more annoying is when strangers – or even the dad himself – refers to it as “babysitting” rather than just, you know, being a parent!
Now a father has shared the hilarious tactic he uses to clap back at people that refer to his time with his young daughter as “babysitting.”
“This is what I used all the time when (my daughter) Viola was first born,” Kevin Clevenger explains in a viral TikTok video.
Dad pretends his wife is dead when asked if he’s babysitting
Kevin went on to explain that after his daughter was born, his wife, Brandy, decided she wanted to go back to work for a little bit, so he would often do the grocery shopping with Viola.
“I remember I was in the grocery store and this lady came up to us and she was like, ‘oh, are you giving Mom a break today, is Daddy babysitting?’” he vividly recalls.
“And I was like ‘No, her mom actually died in childbirth, so it’s just been me and her since then’.’I don’t know why that’s what came to my mind and this woman’s face turned ghost white.
“So now anytime someone asks if I’m babysitting, I say ‘no, her mom’s dead, it’s just me’.”
“It’s just being a father, not babysitting”
People were quick to praise Kevin for his tactic, with his video racking up more than 5.5 million views in just 24 hours.
“I’m giving my fiancé full permission to claim me as dead because people CONSTANTLY ask him if he’s babysitting,” one person responded.
“I always say ‘no, I’m being a father’, but I might try this next time,” a father applauded.
“THIS IS BRILLIANT. Once she’s old enough you should explain it to her and teach her to burst into tears,” another person suggested.
