Dan Hooker won UFC 290 fight against Jalin Hooker with broken arm and orbital

Having dismissed an injury as “just a scratch” it has emerged that Dan Hooker won his fight against Jalin Turner at UFC 290 in Las Vegas with a broken arm and orbital.

Hooker shared an Instagram post confirming the breaks after Hooker defeated Turner in a split-decision after a gruelling contest on Sunday, July 9.

Two judges scored the fight 29-28 in Turner’s favour, with the third official giving the same 29-28 score to Turner.

During the celebrations, commentator Joe Rogan asked Hooker if he broke his arm during the fight.

“It’s just a scratch. We’ll have to see,” he joked.

The match-up had been delayed for four months due to a hand injury Hooker sustained.

According to UFC president Dana White, Hooker broke his arm in the second round, which meant he fought the entirety of the third with the injury.

What’s make his performance even more remarkable is that Hooker also broke his orbital bone surrounding the eyeball.

Hooker, 33, refused to give in and, in fact, almost submitted Turner at the end of the second round. He was in control for the majority of the third on the ground.

Since signing with UFC in 2014, Hooker has fought 21 times, winning 13.
