Daniel Day-Lewis makes rare appearance in NYC with wife Rebecca Miller

It was a family affair.

Daniel Day-Lewis made a rare red carpet appearance in New York City Tuesday night as he and his family attended a screening of the new film “She Came to Me.”

The 66-year-old retired actor attended the premiere alongside his wife, Rebecca Miller, 61, who wrote and directed the romantic comedy. They also brought their son Ronan, 25, and his friend Lena Christakis, according to the Daily Mail.

The reclusive Oscar winner donned a black button-down and dark-wash jeans, accented with a bolo tie and large belt buckle, topped with a grayish denim jacket.

Miller, who married the “Lincoln” star in 1996 and is the daughter of celebrated playwright Arthur Miller, shimmered in all black in a satin sleeveless top, sparkly pants, patent leather shoes and a chic handbag.

The duo’s son kept it simple by wearing a white T-shirt with blue jeans.

Miller’s film, which stars Anne Hathaway, “Game of Thrones” alum Peter Dinklage, Marisa Tomei and Nicole Kidman, tells the story of composer Steven Lauddem (Dinklage) who suffers from writer’s block but regains his creativity after a one-night stand.

Day-Lewis’ appearance marks the first time the “There Will Be Blood” actor stepped out on a red carpet since the premiere of his 2017 film “Phantom Thread,” which itself came months after he announced that he was done making films.

“I knew it was uncharacteristic to put out a statement,” the actor told W magazine after stating his intention to retire. “But I did want to draw a line. I didn’t want to get sucked back into another project.”

“All my life, I’ve mouthed off about how I should stop acting, and I don’t know why it was different this time,” the Method actor went on. “But the impulse to quit took root in me, and that became a compulsion. It was something I had to do.”

According to Day-Lewis, he reportedly felt a “great sadness” about retiring, adding that it was “the right way to feel.”

“How strange would it be if this was just a gleeful step into a brand-new life,” mulled the “Gangs of New York” star. “I’ve been interested in acting since I was 12 years old, and back then, everything other than the theater — that box of light — was cast in shadow.”

“When I began, it was a question of salvation. Now, I want to explore the world in a different way,” he said.

Despite not appearing on the silver screen since, Day-Lewis was snapped in May sporting long silver hair, a graffiti trucker hat and a bright blue tracksuit while walking around with Miller in the West Village.

“She Came to Me” hits theaters Friday.
