Danny DeVito, Arnold Schwarzenegger have movie in works

The dynamic duo are back at it.

Danny DeVito, 79, told The Post that he’s planning an on-screen reunion with Arnold Schwarzenegger, 76, who famously played his mismatched twin in the 1988 comedy “Twins.”

“We’ve talked to [a Warner Bros. exec] about a movie for Arnold and I,” DeVito told The Post, while promoting his narration of “Matilda in Concert,” which will be held in New Brunswick, New Jersey, on Friday.

“So we’re in the process of … we’re thinking about it. It may not be related to ‘Twins.’ Or, it may be related to other things that we’ve done. ‘Junior’ or ‘Batman,’” DeVito added, referring, respectively, to their 1994 comedy about male pregnancy, and to the 1989-1997 stretch of “Batman” movies, which saw both appear as villains (albeit in different films).

DeVito played famed Caped Crusader foe the Penguin in 1992’s “Batman Returns,” while Schwarzenegger played the villainous Mr. Freeze in 1997’s “Batman & Robin.”

“I think [a movie would be] the two of us in a fun situation. I love hanging out with him. It’s a really cool thing, and he’s such a nice guy,” DeVito said about Schwarzenegger.

The two actors and longtime pals recently reunited onstage at the 2024 Oscars, on March 10. The duo appeared together onstage to present the award for Best Visual Effects.

“Arnold and I are presenting together for a very obvious reason,” DeVito said during the ceremony.

“… We both tried to kill Batman,” Schwarzenegger finished.

“Where is he? There he is,” DeVito joked before the camera cut to Michael Keaton sitting in the audience.

“You have a lot of nerve to show your face here,” Schwarzenegger told Keaton, 72.

DeVito chimed in, “We’re gonna see you after the Governors Ball!”

“It’s fun to be up there, I was really excited to do that with him,” DeVito told The Post, reflecting about their Oscars moment.

“That night we had fun with Keaton and everything. He’s a good sport. He’s a good guy.”

As to what DeVito does when he socializes with Schwarzenegger, the actor said, “Well, I go over to his place. I know all of his animals. Schnelly the pig, and his little horses and his donkeys. Once in a while, I’ll go over and have lunch or go hang out.

“We smoke a stogie [cigar] in the yard, and talk about stuff. And, he came to see my play,” he went on, referring to Broadway’s “I Need That.”

“He came all the way to New York at the Roundabout [Theatre] one night. That was a surprise, it was really wonderful.”

About the future movie that he and Schwarzenegger are planning, DeVito said, “You never know what the story will be, but it’s coming.”

“Matilda in Concert” will be held at the State Theatre New Jersey on Friday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m. In addition to hearing DeVito’s narration, attendees will be treated to guest appearances by film cast members Mara Wilson (Matilda) and Rhea Perlman (Mrs. Wormwood).

“Matilda,” directed by and co-starring DeVito, is also available now on 4K to buy.
