Depraved horror movie causes viewers to vomit, faint in the theater
This is literally scaring people sick.
While most horror films keep people up at night, slasher flick “Terrifier 2” is apparently so graphic that viewers are vomiting and passing out in their seats. Social media users shared their appalling viewing experiences ahead of the special release of director Damien Leone’s film Thursday.
The crowd-funded indie horror flick — which will play in over 850 theaters nationwide after initially airing last week — is the “Uncut and Uncompromised” sequel to “Terrifier,” a film about a psychotic killer clown named Art the Clown, Bloody Disgusting reported. In this blood-splattered sequel, the homicidal harlequin gets resurrected by a malevolent entity, whereupon he terrorizes a teenage girl and her brother on Halloween. Think “It” but with buckets more blood and guts.
While this might sound like a garden variety horror movie plot, “Terrifier 2” was lauded for its extreme violence that harks back to the goresploitation flicks of yore. “It’s the kind of horror movie that just doesn’t really exist anymore,” gushed John Squires of Bloody Disgusting.
This blood-soaked slasher sequel might’ve even been too effective. Following its release, viewers flocked to social media to share stories of how “T2” made them faint and even literally lose their lunch.
“My friend passed out and the theater called an ambulance. Highly recommended” exclaimed one satisfied viewer on Twitter along with a pic of the panic-stricken viewer being tended to by paramedics.
“The guy behind me passed out cold n crashed into my chair,” said another. “Another guy left because he didn’t feel good, I overheard him say and walking out theatre door I heard a guy puking hard & loud in the bathroom.”
One aghast horror fanatic wrote, “Terrifier 2 is so gory I puked in my popcorn.”
Fortunately, it appears “T2’s” puke-inducing prowess may have paid financial dividends as the not-for-the-squeamish slasher scared up $1.4 million at the box office in under a week, Bloody Disgusting reported. In other words, its popularity spread via word-of-threw-up-in-my-mouth.
This isn’t the only new release to traumatize viewers. Earlier this week, social media users implored Netflix to include a trigger warning on the Mila Kunis-starring film, “Luckiest Girl Alive,” due to the flick’s disturbing scenes of sexual violence.
