Devon Hoover was found wrapped in sheet after ‘domestic incident’

The prominent Michigan neurosurgeon who was found shot dead in his home over the weekend was discovered shrouded in a plastic sheet following what police believe was a domestic incident.

Dr. Devon Hoover, 53, was found dead at his home on West Boston Boulevard in Detroit’s historic Boston-Edison District on Sunday evening.

Late Tuesday, police confirmed that Hoover, who reportedly lived alone, was discovered wrapped in a plastic sheet in his attic during a wellness check, FOX 2 reported.  

He was killed by a single gunshot wound to the head, the outlet said.

Authorities believe the killing may be tied to a domestic situation. As of Wednesday morning, there have been no arrests in the case.

At the time of his death, Hoover was a well-respected neurosurgeon with Ascension Healthcare. He was remembered by patients as a talented physician with a warm-hearted manner.

“At that point in 2008, he said if I didn’t do my first surgery then — which was putting plates and screws into my neck — that I would basically be in a wheelchair within three to five years,” one former patient, Julia, told WXYZ of the Indiana University School of Medicine graduate.

“I respect him. I thank him because my life in the last 15 years could’ve been way different without him. And he kept me moving for my kids, now for my grandson, so he’s changed my life.”

Adam Walder, who had been a patient of Hoover’s for over 20 years, echoed Julia’s compliments.

“Not only was he a fantastic surgeon but just a wonderful human being,” he said.

“Those three days in the hospital [after surgery], he’d come in the morning to check on you, call you after your discharge to check on you. You just don’t see that anymore.”

The Detroit Police Department did not immediately return The Post’s request for a comment on the investigation.
