Dick Van Dyke is one-man band as he dances before 98th birthday
Dick Van Dyke is still dancin’.
The TV and film legend was captured busting a move in a dressing room Friday on Instagram as he films his upcoming CBS special “Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic.”
The “Bye Bye Birdie” star, who turns 98 on Dec. 13, looked dapper in a charcoal gray suit jacket and slightly lighter dress pants while showing off his dance moves in a behind-the-scenes clip posted to Christina Karlin’s Instagram Story, who appears to be involved in the production of the special.
A lively Van Dyke playfully performed a jazz square, using a cane for balance.
“Celebrating this legend today,” she wrote on top of the clip.
The Post has contacted reps for Van Dyke and Karlin for comment.
The CBS special airs Dec. 21 on CBS and will stream on Paramount+.
“I started with CBS under contract in 1955 with the CBS morning show, then ‘The Dick Van Dyke Show’ and ‘Diagnosis Murder,’” Van Dyke said in a statement last month when the special was announced. “I’ve been with the CBS family for almost 70 years, and I couldn’t be prouder.”
“I’m incredibly honored that CBS will be throwing a 98th birthday special for me,” the Emmy winner added. “Can’t wait to be part of the show!”
Public sightings of Van Dyke are rare these days. The last time he was seen in public was Nov. 20 at the Malibu Arts Commission’s “Dick Van Dyke – Moments in Time” exhibit, which featured several photos that spanned his life.
Van Dyke and his wife, Arlene Silver, 52, seemed to enjoy their evening as the “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” star spent one hour in a Q&A session.
In February, he also dazzled audiences on “The Masked Singer,” which he called “the weirdest thing I’ve ever done.”
