Doja Cat’s ‘Attention’ shocks fans with bloody video: ‘Sell that soul’
Fans are being bloody honest about Doja Cat’s new single, “Attention.”
The 27-year-old Grammy-winning singer officially launched into a new era Friday with the release of the song and accompanying music video — the latter in which she briefly appears naked, covered in blood.
Her bloody body is also pictured on the single artwork for “Attention,” and has attracted lots of attention online.
Uploaded early Friday morning, the official music video already topped 1.3 million views.
“Doja Cat is serving True Blood and I can’t believe no one noticed,” wrote one fan, likening her look to characters in the violent HBO vampire series.
“No pun intended but she actually came for blood with this one,” another cheered on the daring look.
“WHERES MORE SHOTS OF YOU COVERED IN BLOOD?!??!?” another fan begged.
However, some weren’t so hip to the new era.
“Doja Cat had to sell that soul. They branded the f–k out of her body with them demonic tattoos and then made her bathe in blood for the Attention video that poor thing. Like the song though,” one fan wrote, referencing the singer’s new massive bat skeleton and another “demonic” mythological figure on her arm.
“Doja acts like a edgy wannabe middle schooler who’s trying hard to be accepted into the alternative music clique,” one hater declared.
“Ok….. Doja cat definitely has changed over the years but this here along with her tattoos are crazy! Do anybody else see something wrong or is it just me? She’s drenched in blood,” another pondered.
“Attention” will be included on Doja Cat’s upcoming album — which is still unnamed aside from her testing the titles “Hellmouth” and “First of All” on social media.
The new record will show off more of Doja’s rapping skills, she previously revealed, instead of pop-focused hits like “Say So” and “Kiss Me More.”
Notoriously known for trolling her fans online, Doja claimed back in May that both of those albums were “cash grabs.”
“And y’all fell for it,” she declared.
