Dolly Parton congratulates Beyoncé on ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ success

The Queen of Country is congratulating Queen Bey.

“I’m a big fan of Beyoncé and very excited that she’s done a country album,” Dolly Parton, 78, wrote on Instagram last week. “So congratulations on your Billboard Hot Country number one single. Can’t wait to hear the full album!”

On Tuesday, Beyoncé, 42, became the first black woman to score a No. 1 hit in the history of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, with “Texas Hold ‘Em.”

The bluegrassy bop, a nod to the singer’s Houston roots, also holds the No. 2 spot on the Hot 100 chart, behind Jack Harlow’s “Lovin on Me.”

Beyoncé shocked fans earlier this month when she appeared in a Super Bowl commercial for Verizon — and casually revealed she would be releasing a new album.

“Texas Hold ’Em” is the first track on “Act II” of “Renaissance,” her album cycle that started with “Renaissance: Act I” in 2022. “Act II” is due out on March 29.

Another track, “16 Carriages,” dropped earlier this month as well.

Beyoncé is no stranger to critical success — she is the most-nominated female artist in Grammy history, with 88 career nods and 32 wins.

With “Texas Hold ’Em,” Beyoncé beat the 22nd place earned by Linda Martell’s 1969 track “Color Him Father” on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

But not everyone has embraced Beyoncé’s entrée into the genre like Parton has.

An Oklahoma country radio station went viral this month when it initially refused a listener’s request to play “Texas Hold ‘Em.”
